Stolmár & Partner is co-organizer and partner of the international "Diagnostics-4-Future Conference" on 27. and 28.11 2019 in Konstanz, Germany

On November 27 and 28, 2019, the event "Diagnostics-4-Future Conference"will take place at the historic coucil on the shores of Lake Constance.

Stolmár & Partner will be represented by Dr. Matthias Stolmár. Stolmár & Partner is a law firm notable for competence i.a. in chemistry, life sciences, biotechnology, pharmacy, materials sciences and medical engineering located in Munich, Hamburg, Geneva and Tuttlingen. Stolmár & Partner provides patent services including the initial application of, defending, and attacking of existing patents. We also help with the enforcement of intellectual property rights such as patents, utility models, trademarks, designs, or Internet domains. The event initiated by the international competence network for diagnostics 'DiagNET', coordinated by BioLAGO, the health network in the four-country of Lake Constance area (Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Liechtenstein), as well as co-organisers and partners such as Dr. Matthias Stolmár (http://www.stolmar-ip.com/), is addressed to companies, laboratories, clinics and doctors as well as research institutions in diagnostics and related fields such as medical technology, life science and pharmaceuticals. Last year, 160 experts from eight countries took part." The conference connects companies, physicians and research institutions for new diagnostic solutions. Leading experts from Europe report on the "hot" topics of the industry: cancer diagnostics, therapy-accompanying diagnostics, multi-resistant germs, lifestyle & diagnostics, artificial intelligence and digital diagnostics and much more.

Starting point are diagnostic questions of users (e.g. medical doctors, clinics, laboratories), which should give the impulse for new solutions by meeting with developers and technology suppliers. The event addresses also patient-oriented diagnostic solutions (point-of-care) to improve health care in rural areas. The conference will be accompanied by an exhibition and a poster award.

Among the speakers are Prof. Stephen Finn (St. James Hospital / University of Dublin, IRL), Dr. Yuksel Temiz (IBM Research, CH), Marlieke de Kraker (Geneva University Hospital, CH), Prof. Martin Widschwendter (University College London, UK), Dr. Françoise Wilhelmi de Toledo (Kliniken Buchinger Wilhelmi, DE) and Prof. Dr. Benedikt Brors (German Cancer Research Center DKFZ, DE).

Stolmár & Partner attends 70th APAA Meeting in Taipei

The 70th Council Meeting of the Asian Patent Attorney Association (APAA) is scheduled for 9 to 12 November 2019 in Taipei, Taiwan with more than 1600 participants. Stolmár & Partner attends and will be represented by Dr. Matthias Stolmár.

APAA 2019 is intended to provide an opportunity for all participants to explore a wide range of IP hot topics presented in committee meetings, workshops, Country and WIPO reports and training courses focusing for example on Digital Piracy and Infringement, Best Practices for Design Filing, IP issues on social media advertising, Successful Licensing, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data.

Dr. Matthias Stolmár presents employee inventor’s law to LES Hungary in Budapest

Dr. Matthias Stolmár from Stolmár & Partner will present general aspects of employee inventor’s law and in particular of compensatory remuneration to members of the Licensing Executives Society Hungarian Group (LES Hungary) in Budapest on October 18, 2019.

An employee's invention is an invention made by an employee within the scope of his employment relationship and the employee's activity, which is regarded as patentable or utility modelable. In Germany, the employee is entitled to compensatory remuneration.

There are many pitfalls in the field of employees' inventions, especially for foreign companies having an R&D department in Germany. Dr Stolmár and his colleagues have extensive knowledge in this field and are happy to help you align your company's strategy with best practice.

Dr Nestle-Nguyen moderates China-IP Forum

Dr Denise Nestle-Nguyen from Stolmár&Partner’s China Desk will be moderating the Round Table Discussion at the 3rd “Cocreate” Autumn IP Forum 2019. The annual forum aims at providing a platform for the exchange between Chinese and European IP practitioners and is an excellent occasion for getting an update on the latest developments in China’s fast changing IP landscape. One of the highlights of this year’s event will be the Mock trial for IP mediation procedure in China, which is sure to provide useful insights into the do’s and don’ts at such proceedings.

The round table discussion moderated by Dr Nestle-Nguyen will feature inter alia Ms Yujin Wang, patent examiner from CNIPA, Mr Ignace Vernimme, patent attorney at Stibbe, and Ms Yuan Ding, in-house counsel at Osram GmbH.

Britta is an experienced patent attorney with a background in electrical engineering who specializes in automotive, batteries,  semiconductor, LEDs and computer-based inventions ( software, AI and autonomous driving). In her last position she advised inter alia one of the largest Japanese carmakers and automotive companies. With over a decade of experience in both private and corporate practice with Daimler AG, Britta is perfectly suited to advise our clients not only on technical and legal questions, but also on their overall IP strategy.
