Dr. Denise Nestle-Nguyen

Dr. Denise Nestle-Nguyen studied biochemistry, molecular biotechnology and Chinese at the Technische Universität München, the University of Nanjing, China, and the AgroParisTech. In her doctoral thesis founded by the German National Academic Foundation, she worked on establishing the CRISPR/Cas techniques in pigs, thus combining molecular scissors with the “Dolly” approach.  At the same time, she received training as a patent scientist in a course led by Prof. Cohausz.

She joined Stolmár & Partner in 2015 and was admitted as a German patent lawyer as well as representative before the EPO in 2019.

In her day-to-day practice, Denise focuses on biotech and pharma, supporting both start-ups as well as well as large companies in their IP strategy. She has broad expertise in pre-grant proceedings including drafting, filing and prosecution of patent applications. She is also experienced in defending and attacking patents as well as in opposition proceedings and FTO analyses.

Thanks to her international training and language skills, she is able to help international clients develop IP strategies for Germany and Europe as well as advise national clients on IP questions abroad, with a particular focus on Greater China.

In her free time, Denise enjoys dancing and calligraphy as well as putting her linguistic skills to practice while travelling.
